Electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) cars are becoming increasingly popular in Poland, and the government supports their purchase through the Mój Elektryk ("My Electric") program, run by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW). In 2026 the program continues to run application rounds — though the detailed terms of each round can change, so it's always worth checking the current edition on the NFOŚiGW website before applying.
Mój Elektryk program — main subsidy amounts
Under previous editions of the program (and according to plans for 2026), subsidy amounts for individuals are:
- BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) — fully electric — up to 37,500 PLN in subsidy for purchase or lease.
- KDR bonus — Large Family Card holders can receive an additional 9,000 PLN, for a total of up to 46,500 PLN.
- PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) — a plug-in hybrid — up to 11,250 PLN.
The subsidy amount depends on the vehicle's price and can be capped at a certain percentage of the purchase price. The vehicle must meet a price criterion (a price cap set in the rules of each edition).
Conditions for applicants
Basic conditions for an individual applicant:
- The buyer must be a private individual (not a company) purchasing for private use, or a lessee.
- The vehicle must remain the beneficiary's property for at least 2 years from the subsidy payout (a permanence condition).
- In some editions an income criterion applies — check the current rules.
- The vehicle must be new (in many editions) or used (in separate rounds for used vehicles).
How to apply
- Check the current application round on the nfosigw.gov.pl website or the program's dedicated portal.
- Buy or sign a lease agreement for a qualifying electric vehicle.
- Register in the NFOŚiGW system and submit an application online along with the required documents (purchase or lease agreement, VAT invoice, vehicle registration document).
- Once the application is approved, the subsidy is paid into the specified bank account.
Important: the application is filed after purchasing the vehicle, not before. There is no retroactive subsidy for purchases made before a given round opened.
Other support programs
Besides NFOŚiGW, some local governments offer additional subsidies for electric cars — it's worth checking whether your city or voivodeship runs its own program. For example, several large cities have subsidized EV purchases independently of the national program.
EV vs. petrol car — cost calculator
When evaluating whether buying an EV is worthwhile, consider not only the purchase price and subsidy, but also lower running costs (electricity is cheaper than fuel, and service costs are lower). Annual fuel savings for an electric car driven 15,000 km can be 3,000–5,000 PLN compared to a petrol car.

Frequently asked questions about the EV subsidy
Can I get a subsidy for a used electric car?
Selected editions of the Mój Elektryk program have included rounds for used vehicles. However, the main subsidies apply to new vehicles. Check the current round's rules on the NFOŚiGW website.
Can the Mój Elektryk subsidy be combined with leasing?
Yes. The Mój Elektryk program covers both purchase and lease of electric vehicles by individuals. For leasing, the lessee is the applicant.
How much is the KDR bonus in the Mój Elektryk program?
Large Family Card holders can receive an additional 9,000 PLN, which combined with the base BEV amount totals up to 46,500 PLN in subsidy. The condition is holding an active KDR at the time of application.
What happens if I sell the electric car before 2 years have passed?
Selling the vehicle before the required permanence period (usually 2 years) requires repaying the subsidy proportionally to the remaining period, or in full. The specific terms are set out in the subsidy agreement.
Does a non-plug-in hybrid (mild hybrid, HEV) qualify for the subsidy?
No. The Mój Elektryk program covers only BEVs (fully electric) and PHEVs (plug-in hybrids). Regular hybrids (HEV) and mild hybrids (MHEV) do not qualify.
Is there a price cap on the vehicle that can be subsidized?
Yes. Each edition of the program sets a maximum price cap for a qualifying vehicle. Cars priced above this cap are not covered by the program. The current cap is stated in the rules of the ongoing round.
When is the subsidy paid out?
The subsidy is paid after the application is approved, usually within a few weeks of submitting complete documentation. The application is filed after purchasing and registering the vehicle.
Can a business use the Mój Elektryk program?
Yes, separate rounds exist for businesses within the Mój Elektryk program or related NFOŚiGW programs. Terms for companies differ from those for individuals — amounts and documentation requirements may vary.
Is a home charger covered by the subsidy?
Under other NFOŚiGW programs (e.g. Mój Prąd), you can get a subsidy for purchasing and installing a home charger (wallbox). This is a separate program from Mój Elektryk — applications are filed separately.
How do I check whether an application round is open?
Current information on open rounds is available on the nfosigw.gov.pl website under priority programs, or directly on the portal dedicated to the Mój Elektryk program. Rounds have predetermined opening and closing dates and budgets.
