A notary is one of the best-paid legal professions. Income varies strongly and depends on the number of acts — from around 12000 PLN per month in smaller offices to 80000 PLN and more in large cities with intense property turnover. On average income hovers around 30000 PLN gross.
What does a notary do?
A notary is a person of public trust who prepares notarial deeds, certifies signatures and documents, draws up property sale agreements, company founding acts, wills and powers of attorney. They ensure the lawfulness of acts, collect taxes and fees, and forward documents to the relevant registers. They operate on the basis of a notarial fee schedule.
What affects earnings?
- The number and value of acts — property turnover generates the highest pay.
- Office location — large cities and regions with an intense market pay the most.
- Reputation and a base of regular clients, including developers and law firms.
- Office running costs that reduce net income.
Regional and experience-based differences
A trainee notary earns 9000-14000 PLN, a beginning notary 18000-45000 PLN, and an experienced notary in a large city 45000-80000 PLN gross. Differences between regions are very large and depend on the number of transactions.
