This calculator computes nominal working hours according to Article 130 of the Polish Labour Code for any selected month or the full year. It includes all statutory public holidays — both fixed and moveable (Easter, Corpus Christi) — and adjusts the result to your chosen weekly hours norm. Useful for calculating hourly rates and verifying payroll.
The calculator uses the formula from Article 130 of the Polish Labour Code: (working days in the period × daily hours norm) − (public holidays on working days × daily hours norm). Daily norm = weekly norm ÷ 5. Moveable holidays (Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Whit Sunday, Corpus Christi) are computed algorithmically for each year.
January 2026 has 31 calendar days, 22 working days (Mon–Fri) and 1 public holiday on a working day (New Year's Day, 1 January — Thursday). With a 40 h/week norm (8 h/day): (22 − 1) × 8 = 168 nominal hours.
Nominal working time is the number of hours an employee should work in a given settlement period according to the applicable hours norm, calculated under Article 130 of the Labour Code.
Formula: (working days in the month × daily hours norm) − (public holidays falling on working days × daily hours norm). For a 40 h/week norm the daily norm is 8 hours.
2026 is not a leap year (365 days). There are 261 weekdays (Mon–Fri). After subtracting public holidays on working days, the nominal hours for a 40 h/week norm are approximately 2000–2008. Use the calculator with year 2026 and "full year" for the exact figure.
The basic norm under Art. 129 of the Labour Code is 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. Part-time employees have proportionally lower norms.
Yes. Each statutory public holiday falling on a weekday (Mon–Fri) reduces nominal working hours by 8 hours (full-time). Holidays on a Saturday or Sunday do not directly affect the Mon–Fri schedule.
The hours norm is the contractual obligation for a specific employee (based on their FTE). Nominal working time is the theoretical full-time figure before absences. The calculator returns nominal time; employers adjust it for each employee's FTE.
The basic settlement period is 4 months. It can be extended to 12 months by collective agreement or trade union agreement (Art. 129 § 2 KP).
Divide the gross monthly salary by the nominal hours for that month. Example: PLN 5000 / 168 nominal hours (January 2026) = PLN 29.76/h gross. The rate changes each month.
In a leap year (e.g. 2024) February has 29 days. If 29 February falls on a weekday, there is one additional working day, so nominal hours may be 168 or 176 instead of the typical 160. The calculator handles leap years correctly.
Yes. The calculator computes dates for Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Whit Sunday and Corpus Christi using the Gregorian algorithm and subtracts them from nominal hours when they fall on weekdays.
The result is indicative and does not replace official working time records. Holiday and working day counts may differ for non-standard work schedules.
