Under Article 154 of the Polish Labour Code, employees are entitled to either 20 or 26 days of annual leave depending on their total length of service. This calculator determines your entitlement based on all previous employment periods and recognised schooling years. Enter your total service length to find out instantly.
The calculator applies the rule from Article 154 of the Polish Labour Code: fewer than 10 years of total service — 20 days; 10 years or more — 26 days. Total service includes all previous employment contracts and credited schooling periods (e.g. 8 years for a university degree).
An employee has 8 years of total service (6 years of work + 2 years credited from a vocational school). Service is below 10 years, so the annual leave entitlement is 20 days. Once total service reaches 10 years, the entitlement rises to 26 days.
Under Article 154 of the Labour Code, employees get 20 days per year if their total service is less than 10 years, or 26 days per year once they reach 10 years of total service.
The higher entitlement of 26 days applies from the day on which the employee's cumulative length of service (with all employers combined) reaches 10 years.
All previous employment under an employment contract counts, regardless of gaps. Recognised periods of education also count: a university degree adds 8 years, secondary school 4 years, vocational school 3 years.
In the first calendar year of employment, leave accrues at 1/12 of the annual entitlement for each full month worked. From the second year onwards, the full entitlement applies at the start of the year.
Employers must generally grant leave according to the holiday schedule or by agreement. They may postpone leave for urgent business reasons, but must grant at least 14 consecutive calendar days within the year.
Part-time employees receive leave proportional to their working hours. For example, at half time with under 10 years of service: 20 × 0.5 = 10 days; with 10+ years: 26 × 0.5 = 13 days (rounded up).
No. Unused leave carries over to the next year as outstanding leave. The employer must grant the outstanding leave by 30 September of the following year. Leave expires after 3 years from the date it became due.
Yes. At the employee's request, leave may be granted in hourly units proportionally. One leave day equals 8 hours, regardless of the employee's daily working hours.
On-demand leave (4 days per year) is part of the annual leave entitlement, not an additional benefit. The employee requests it by the start of the leave day and the employer generally cannot refuse.
No. Cash compensation for unused leave is only permitted when the employment relationship ends. During employment, leave must be taken in time off; monetary substitution is not allowed.
The result is indicative and not legal advice. The exact entitlement depends on documented service history — consult HR or a labour law specialist.
