The service pricing calculator helps you set a client-facing price based on estimated time, your internal hourly cost, extra expenses (materials, subcontractors), and target margin. Unlike product pricing — which spreads fixed costs across sales volume — a service is priced around the time spent on one specific job.
1. Labour cost = estimated hours × hourly cost. 2. Total cost = labour cost + extra expenses. 3. Break-even price = total cost. 4. Client price = total cost / (1 − margin% / 100). 5. Profit = client price − total cost. 6. Effective hourly rate = client price / estimated hours.
Labour cost = 10 x 60 = PLN 600. Total cost = 600 + 200 = PLN 800. Break-even price = PLN 800. Client price = 800 / (1 − 0.30) = PLN 1,142.86. Profit = PLN 342.86. Effective hourly rate = PLN 114.29/h.
Service price = (estimated time × hourly cost + extra expenses) / (1 − margin%). The calculator first computes total cost, then applies mark-up margin.
Products are priced from unit cost plus fixed costs spread over sales volume. Services have no production volume — what matters is the time spent on a specific job.
If you sell a physical good in repeatable volume, use the product pricing calculator, which spreads fixed costs across planned sales.
Hourly cost is your real cost of work, not a market rate. To find your full internal hourly cost, use the company hourly cost calculator.
Materials used, equipment rental, subcontractors, travel, one-off licences. Fixed business costs are better folded into the hourly cost.
One-off and project services usually carry higher margins than goods — often 25–50% — to cover estimation risk and downtime between jobs.
Estimate from similar past jobs and add a 15–25% buffer for unforeseen difficulties. Underestimating time is the most common cause of losses.
No — the calculator works with net prices. Add the applicable VAT rate to get the gross client price.
It's the client price divided by estimated hours — showing what you actually earn per hour after margin.
This calculator prices a single job. For recurring monthly work, estimate average monthly hours and price it as one project.
This calculator is for informational purposes and uses a simplified cost-plus model. It does not account for market dynamics, competitor pricing, negotiation, or demand seasonality for services. Discuss pricing decisions with a business adviser or accountant.
