How Does the Calculator Work?
Enter the number of remote work days per week, distance to the office, car fuel consumption, fuel price, and daily lunch costs at the office and at home. The calculator will compute your monthly savings on fuel and food.
Calculation Example
An employee commuting 15 km to the office, working remotely 3 days a week, with fuel consumption of 7 l/100 km and a fuel price of 6.50 PLN/l, saves about 177 PLN on fuel and about 260 PLN on lunches – over 437 PLN per month in total.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the calculator compute fuel savings?
It multiplies the number of remote days per month by the round-trip distance, then factors in fuel consumption and fuel price.
How many working days per month does the calculator assume?
The calculator assumes an average of 4.33 weeks per month, which gives a realistic approximation of working days.
Does the calculator include car depreciation?
No – the calculator focuses only on fuel and lunch costs. Car depreciation and service costs are not included.
What should I enter in the "distance to office" field?
Enter the one-way distance from home to the office in kilometres. The calculator automatically doubles this for the return trip.
Is remote work always cheaper than office work?
Not necessarily. If home lunch costs are higher or you live close to the office, savings may be minimal or even zero.
How can I account for electricity costs when working from home?
This version of the calculator does not cover electricity or internet costs. You can manually subtract them from the calculated savings.
Can I use the results to estimate annual savings?
Yes. Simply multiply the monthly savings by 12 to get an approximate annual figure.
What consumption should I enter for an electric or hybrid car?
For electric cars, enter the equivalent consumption converted to kWh or use a dedicated EV calculator. For hybrids, use your actual combined consumption.
What if I commute by public transport?
This calculator is designed for car commutes. For public transport, compare the monthly ticket cost with remote work commuting costs.
Are the results guaranteed?
No. Results are indicative and depend on the data you enter. Actual savings may vary depending on road conditions, driving style, and other factors.
Results are indicative only and do not constitute financial or legal advice. Actual savings depend on individual circumstances.
