Travel budget calculator 2026
Calculate the total cost of your trip for any group size. Covers transport, accommodation, food, attractions and extras. See cost per person and per day.
The accommodation cost calculator helps you quickly work out how much you will pay for your stay. Enter the number of nights, price per night, number of rooms, number of guests and any city tax — the calculator returns the accommodation cost, city tax total and the total spend per person. Useful for planning a trip, comparing hotel offers or splitting costs in a group.
Accommodation cost = nights × price per night × number of rooms City tax = tax per person × number of persons × number of nights Total cost = accommodation cost + city tax Cost per person = total cost / number of persons
7 nights × 200 PLN per night × 1 room = 1400 PLN accommodation. With no city tax, the total cost is 1400 PLN, or 700 PLN per person for 2 guests.
A city (tourist) tax is a charge levied by local authorities on visitors staying overnight. The rate is set by the municipality and is typically a few zlotys per person per night. You pay it directly at the property, usually at check-in or check-out.
Divide the total cost (accommodation plus city tax) by the number of guests. The calculator does this automatically. A room for 2 at 200 PLN per night for 7 nights costs 1400 PLN in total, or 700 PLN per person.
In this calculator the price per night is for the room, which is the most common way hotels and booking platforms quote prices. If a property quotes a per-person price, multiply it by the number of guests and enter that as the price per night.
Compare prices for the same dates across several booking platforms. Check whether the rate includes breakfast, free cancellation and any extras such as parking, pets or extra beds. Joining hotel loyalty programmes can also unlock discounts.
Beyond the room rate you may encounter: city tax, VAT (usually included in the quoted price), parking, breakfast, a pet fee, extra beds, a cleaning fee or a security deposit. Always read the offer description carefully before booking.
The calculator works out the cost per person automatically when you enter the total number of guests. If the group is split across rooms with different prices, calculate each room separately and add the totals. You can also use the trip cost-sharing calculator.
Yes, especially during peak season and around events such as festivals or New Year. Early bookings are usually cheaper. However, check the cancellation policy — some cheap rates are non-refundable, while more expensive flexible rates allow free cancellation up to the day of arrival.
A hotel room is a standard sleeping space with a bathroom. An apartment or studio also includes a kitchenette or kitchen, so you can self-cater and reduce food costs. Apartments are often cheaper for longer stays and work well for groups or families with children.
Book outside peak season, and consider alternatives to expensive hotels such as hostels, guesthouses, apartments or holiday cottages. Use loyalty programmes and discount codes. Check reviews on travel platforms and compare prices across several sites before booking.
No. The calculator uses the price you enter as-is. Hotel prices usually already include VAT (8% or 23% in Poland), so you do not need to add it separately. If you are working with net prices, remember to add the appropriate VAT rate before comparing totals.
The calculator gives indicative results based on the data you enter. Accommodation prices may vary by season, promotions and individual property policies. Always verify the final amount directly with the accommodation provider.
