Travel budget calculator 2026

Planning a holiday raises one big question early: how much will it actually cost? Whether you are dreaming of a week on a Greek island, a two-week adventure in Southeast Asia or a long weekend in the Polish mountains, getting a realistic budget estimate before you start browsing travel deals saves time, prevents surprises and helps you make better decisions. Our vacation cost calculator gives you a reliable estimate in seconds — no sign-up, no complicated forms. The calculator uses four inputs to model your holiday budget: the number of travellers, the duration in days, the destination region, and your preferred travel standard. Destination matters enormously: holidays in Poland are the most affordable, while Europe close (Turkey, Croatia, Greece, Spain) is 50% more expensive, and far-flung exotic destinations cost 3.5 times more per day than domestic travel. Travel standard captures the quality level of your accommodation and dining: budget means hostels and street food; standard covers solid 3–4 star hotels with restaurant meals; premium includes 5-star resorts; and luxury represents private villas, butler service and Michelin-star dining. The results show three key figures. The total vacation cost covers everything for the whole group including flights. The cost per person divides the total equally among all travellers. The daily cost per person shows what each day costs excluding the one-off flight — useful for comparing a short intensive trip versus a longer laid-back holiday. All figures are in Polish zloty (PLN). The calculator uses averaged market data for each destination and standard tier. Actual prices vary by season — July and August are peak-price months, while shoulder season (May–June, September–October) can be 20–30% cheaper. Booking in advance (3–6 months for flights, 2–4 months for hotels) typically saves another 20–40% versus last-minute prices. Use the calculator to set your top-line budget, then refine with actual quotes from booking platforms.
The model starts with a base daily cost of PLN 200 per person, adjusted by two multipliers. Destination multiplier: Poland = 1.0; Europe close = 1.5; Europe far = 2.0; Asia = 2.5; Americas = 3.0; Exotic = 3.5. Standard multiplier: budget = 0.6; standard = 1.0; premium = 2.0; luxury = 4.0. Base daily cost per person = 200 × destination_multiplier × standard_multiplier. A one-off flight cost per person is added: Poland = PLN 0; Europe close = PLN 800; Europe far = PLN 1,500; Asia = PLN 3,000; Americas = PLN 4,000; Exotic = PLN 5,000. Formula: total cost = (daily_base × days + flight_cost) × people. Cost per person = total cost ÷ people. Daily cost per person = base daily cost (flight excluded).
A couple plans a week's holiday in Greece (Europe close, standard tier). The calculator works as follows: base daily cost per person = 200 × 1.5 × 1.0 = PLN 300. Flight cost per person = PLN 800. Total cost = (300 × 7 + 800) × 2 = (2,100 + 800) × 2 = PLN 5,800. Cost per person = PLN 2,900. Daily cost per person (excl. flight) = PLN 300. This estimate covers accommodation, meals and local spending — flights are included in the total through the per-person flight cost component.
A two-week holiday for 2 people varies widely. In Europe close (Greece, Spain, Turkey) at standard level expect PLN 9,800–12,000 all-in. In Asia at standard, plan for PLN 16,000–20,000. Budget travel within Poland for 14 days costs around PLN 2,500–4,500. Use the calculator to get a precise estimate for your chosen destination and standard.
A 7-night all-inclusive holiday (Turkey, Egypt, Greece) costs from PLN 2,500 per person in budget hotels up to PLN 6,000+ for premium resorts. The price includes flights, hotel, food and drinks. Add PLN 300–600 per person for excursions and activities outside the resort.
Independent booking is typically 15–30% cheaper for equivalent quality if you plan ahead. Travel agencies offer convenience, package consumer protection and sometimes better hotel rates due to bulk contracts. For exotic or complex multi-destination trips, agencies often provide better value and peace of mind.
For European routes, book 6–12 weeks in advance. For long-haul, 3–6 months ahead gives the best prices. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are statistically the cheapest days to purchase tickets. Set price alerts on Google Flights or Skyscanner. Avoid booking in the last 2–3 weeks — prices spike sharply.
A standard 2-week holiday in Thailand for 2 people costs approximately PLN 20,000–28,000. Flights are the largest cost component: return flights from Warsaw cost around PLN 3,000–4,500 per person. Accommodation in mid-range hotels runs PLN 200–400 per night. Food and local activities are inexpensive — PLN 100–200 per person per day covers meals and typical tourist activities.
Book 3–6 months early for flights and hotels (saves 30–50%). Travel in shoulder season (May–June or September–October). Choose apartments over hotels for stays longer than 5 days. Use multi-currency cards (Revolut, Wise) to avoid exchange fees. Look for free attractions and museum free-entry days. Eat at local restaurants rather than tourist traps.
Commonly overlooked costs include: travel insurance (PLN 30–100 per person), airport baggage fees (PLN 20–200), taxi/transfer costs, tips and gratuities, souvenirs and shopping, currency exchange fees, and an emergency contingency fund of 10–15% of the total budget.
The simplest method is equal division of the total. The calculator gives you the per-person cost automatically. For groups, set up a shared pot for group expenses (accommodation, car hire, group meals) and let individuals manage their own discretionary spending. Apps like Splitwise or Tricount make settlement easy.
A standard 2-week holiday to the USA for 2 people costs approximately PLN 30,000–45,000. Return flights from Warsaw cost PLN 4,000–6,000 per person. Hotel accommodation in major cities runs PLN 500–900 per night. Food is expensive by Polish standards — budget PLN 200–350 per person per day. Internal flights or car hire add PLN 2,000–5,000 for the trip.
Total cost = (200 × destination_multiplier × standard_multiplier × days + flight_cost_per_person) × number_of_people. Destination multipliers: Poland 1.0, Europe close 1.5, Europe far 2.0, Asia 2.5, Americas 3.0, Exotic 3.5. Standard multipliers: budget 0.6, standard 1.0, premium 2.0, luxury 4.0. Flight costs per person: Poland PLN 0, Europe close PLN 800, Europe far PLN 1,500, Asia PLN 3,000, Americas PLN 4,000, Exotic PLN 5,000.
