The vacation entitlement calculator quickly tells you how many annual leave days you are entitled to. Enter your years of employment and completed years of education — the calculator computes your leave seniority and shows whether you qualify for 20 or 26 days. Leave entitlement depends on the total seniority: years of employment (under an employment contract) plus years of education (under art. 155 Labour Code). Full entitlement of 26 days is reached at 10 years of leave seniority. The calculator also shows how many years remain until the higher entitlement.
Leave seniority = whole years of work + whole years of education. Entitlement: seniority < 10 years → 20 days; seniority ≥ 10 years → 26 days. Years remaining = max(0, 10 − seniority).
Leave seniority = 7 + 8 = 15 years ≥ 10 → entitlement = 26 days. Example 2: 5 years work, no education → seniority = 5 years < 10 → 20 days, 5 years remaining.
20 days — with leave seniority below 10 years; 26 days — with leave seniority of at least 10 years. Leave seniority is the sum of employment years and education years under art. 155 Labour Code.
Vocational school: up to 3 years; vocational secondary: up to 5 years; general secondary: 4 years; post-secondary: 6 years; university: 8 years. Only the highest completed stage is counted.
No — only the highest completed stage of education is counted. Completing a university degree (bachelor's or master's) always adds 8 years, regardless of actual study duration.
Yes — foreign employment confirmed by documents (translated work certificate) counts toward leave seniority under art. 86 of the Employment Promotion Act.
No — only employment contracts (umowa o pracę) create an employment relationship for the purpose of leave seniority. Civil-law contracts are excluded.
The right to 26 days is acquired on the day the total leave seniority reaches 10 years — not from 1 January of that year.
In the first year of employment, leave accrues at 1/12 of the annual entitlement per month worked. From the second year, the full entitlement is granted at the start of each calendar year.
Unused leave from a previous employment relationship does not transfer automatically. The former employer is obliged to pay a monetary equivalent for unused leave upon termination.
Unpaid leave exceeding 30 days in a year reduces the annual entitlement proportionally for that year. It does not affect the accumulated leave seniority.
The employee can request a certificate from the foreign employer or contact the equivalent of ZUS in that country. Without documents, the employer may accept a written declaration but is not required to do so.
Results are for informational purposes only. The exact entitlement depends on completed years of employment and finished stages of education. Consult your HR department.
