Solar PV installation cost calculator

Calculate the indicative cost of a solar photovoltaic installation in Poland in 2026, including VAT (8% residential / 23% commercial), the Mój Prąd subsidy and optional energy storage. The calculator also estimates annual energy production and the simple payback period.

How we calculate PV installation costs

Base cost = capacity [kWp] × PLN 3,500/kWp (2026 average market price). VAT: 8% for residential buildings, 23% for businesses. Energy storage (optional) = PLN 20,000. Gross cost = base cost + VAT + storage. Mój Prąd subsidy (residential only) = min(capacity × 1,000, 6,000) PLN. Post-subsidy cost = gross cost – subsidy. Annual production = capacity × 950 kWh/kWp. Annual savings = production × PLN 0.75/kWh. Payback = post-subsidy cost / annual savings.

Example: 6 kWp, single-family house, no storage

6 kWp for a single-family house: net cost = 6 × PLN 3,500 = PLN 21,000, VAT 8% = PLN 1,680, gross total = PLN 22,680. Mój Prąd subsidy = PLN 6,000. Post-subsidy cost = PLN 16,680. Annual production = 5,700 kWh, savings ≈ PLN 4,275/year. Payback ≈ 3.9 years.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a solar PV installation cost in Poland in 2026?

The indicative price is about PLN 3,500 per kWp. A typical 6 kWp system for a single-family house costs around PLN 22,680 gross (incl. 8% VAT) before any subsidy.

How many kWp do I need for a single-family house?

For an average house consuming 4,500–5,000 kWh/year, a 5–7 kWp system is typically sufficient. The exact size depends on annual consumption, roof orientation, tilt and whether you add energy storage.

What is the Mój Prąd subsidy?

Mój Prąd is a government grant for prosumers. In the current edition it provides up to PLN 6,000 for residential PV installations. The grant is paid after installation and application.

Residential buildings pay 8% VAT. Businesses pay 23%. The calculator automatically applies the correct rate based on the selected installation type.

On average, 1 kWp produces about 900–1,000 kWh per year. The calculator uses 950 kWh/kWp/year. Actual output depends on location, orientation and tilt — southern Poland can be 10–15% higher.

Simple payback = post-subsidy cost / annual savings. Annual savings depend on the electricity price and energy produced. The calculator uses an average saving of PLN 0.75/kWh.

A battery allows you to store surplus energy and use it at night, increasing self-consumption to 70–80%. The cost is about PLN 20,000. It may shorten payback if you have high evening consumption or a dynamic tariff.

Under net-billing (since 2022), surplus energy is sold at the market price and electricity is bought at the retail tariff. The system is most advantageous with high self-consumption. Details depend on your energy supplier.

Besides Mój Prąd: the thermomodernisation tax relief (up to PLN 53,000 deductible from PIT), WFOŚiGW programmes, Czyste Powietrze loans and EU grants. Combining multiple sources is possible but requires meeting each programme's conditions.

The calculator provides indicative costs based on average 2026 market prices. It does not include design, grid connection, servicing, insurance or individual installer discounts. Always compare multiple quotes and consult a certified installer.

Results are indicative and based on average 2026 market prices. Actual costs may vary by installer, panel type and local conditions. Always compare at least three quotes.
