Enter driver age, years without claims, engine displacement and vehicle type to get an indicative annual OC premium. The result is an estimate based on a simplified model — actual quotes depend on the insurer's individual tariff.
OC premium = base (PLN 1,200) × age_factor × claims_factor × engine_factor × type_factor. Age: <26 → 2.0; 26–34 → 1.3; ≥35 → 1.0. Claim-free years: max(0.5; 1 − years × 0.05). Engine: >2000 cc → 1.4; >1600 → 1.2; other → 1.0. Type: car 1.0 / SUV 1.15 / van 1.3 / motorcycle 1.5. Range: ×0.7 (min) and ×1.4 (max).
For a 35-year-old driver with 5 claim-free years and a 1,600 cc passenger car: estimated OC premium ≈ PLN 900/year. For a 22-year-old with no history: ≈ PLN 2,400/year. Market range: PLN 630–1,260.
OC (odpowiedzialność cywilna) is the compulsory third-party motor liability insurance in Poland. It covers damage you cause to other road users. Driving without valid OC is subject to a fine from the UFG fund of up to PLN 6,800.
Each claim-free year earns a discount (bonus) on your next premium, while a paid claim results in a surcharge (malus). The maximum accumulated bonus can reach 60–70% depending on the insurer. Your no-claims history transfers between insurers.
There is no statutory minimum premium — each insurer sets its own tariff. Indicatively, an experienced driver (35–55 years) with maximum discounts pays about PLN 400–800/year. A young driver with no history may pay PLN 2,000–5,000.
Age is a key risk factor. Drivers under 26 statistically cause more accidents — their premium can be up to twice that of an experienced driver. The lowest rates are for the 35–55 age group with a long claim-free history.
Vehicles with engines above 2,000 cc (and often above 1,600 cc) fall into higher tariff classes and pay higher premiums. Larger engines mean potentially higher speeds and greater damage in accidents, which translates into higher risk.
Yes — OC prices are unregulated (the market has been free since 2004). Compare quotes from several insurers. Use price comparison websites and check offers every year at renewal. Switching insurer is simple — you can transfer your no-claims history.
The OC premium can be paid in one lump sum (often cheaper) or in instalments — monthly, quarterly or half-yearly. The policy is valid for one year. When buying a used vehicle, the OC policy transfers to the new owner for the remaining term.
OC (compulsory) covers third parties for damage you cause. AC (autocasco, optional comprehensive) covers your own vehicle against theft, collision, fire and flooding. OC is required by law; AC is voluntary but worth considering for higher-value cars.
All claims paid from your OC where you were at fault count against your no-claims history. Claims paid from someone else's OC (where you were the victim) do not affect you. A single accident can remove several years of accumulated discount.
No — the result is an indicative estimate based on a simplified pricing model (base PLN 1,200 × factors). The actual premium depends on the insurer's individual tariff, place of vehicle registration, make and model, and many other factors. Contact an insurer or use a comparison site for a binding quote.
Indicative estimate only — not an offer from any insurer. The actual premium depends on the insurer's tariff, place of registration, vehicle make/model and many individual factors.
