How the calculator estimates study costs

Total cost: Tuition = tuition per semester × number of semesters Commuting = monthly cost × number of months (semesters × 5) Materials = cost per semester × number of semesters Monthly cost: Monthly cost = total cost ÷ number of months

Example: tuition PLN 3,500, 6 semesters

Tuition PLN 3,500 × 6 semesters = PLN 21,000. Commuting PLN 200 × 30 months = PLN 6,000. Materials PLN 300 × 6 = PLN 1,800. Total cost = PLN 28,800, i.e. approx. PLN 960 per month over the 30 months of studies.

Frequently asked questions

How much do part-time studies cost in Poland in 2026?

Tuition for part-time (non-stationary) studies in Poland in 2026 is roughly PLN 2,500–6,000 per semester at public universities and PLN 3,000–9,000 at private universities. Bachelor studies usually last 6 semesters, supplementary master studies 4 semesters. The total cost of a bachelor degree is often PLN 20,000–35,000 in tuition alone.

How do part-time studies differ from full-time?

Part-time (non-stationary) studies take place in a weekend format (sessions every 2 weeks) and are also paid at public universities. Full-time (day) studies at public universities are free but require weekday attendance. Part-time studies are most often chosen by working people who want to combine study with employment.

Can part-time tuition be deducted from tax?

Tuition itself is not subject to a standard personal income tax deduction. However, if an employer funds an employee’s studies, the cost may be a deductible business expense for the company. Self-employed people can in some cases count studies related to their business profile as costs.

Most universities allow tuition to be paid in installments — usually monthly (e.g. 5 installments per semester) or in two installments per semester. Installment payment can be slightly more expensive or involve a small handling fee. It is worth checking the fee regulations of the given university before the academic year begins.

Yes. Non-stationary students are entitled to a social scholarship, a rector’s scholarship for academic results and a scholarship for people with disabilities, on the same terms as full-time students. A scholarship can significantly reduce the actual cost of part-time studies.

Beyond tuition you should account for: commuting costs for sessions (fuel, tickets, often PLN 150–400 monthly), buying textbooks and materials (PLN 200–500 per semester), possible accommodation when sessions are in another city, retake exam fees and the diploma fee. These costs can add several thousand zloty over the whole study period.

Yes. A student loan with interest subsidy from the state budget is available also for non-stationary students. The loan is low-interest and repayment begins two years after graduation. It is a popular way of financing tuition for people who cannot cover the costs on an ongoing basis.

First-cycle part-time studies (bachelor/engineer) usually last 6–7 semesters (3–3.5 years), and second-cycle studies (supplementary master) 3–4 semesters (1.5–2 years). One semester is roughly 5 months of intensive study. Some fields, such as law or medicine, have a longer, uniform course of studies.

Part-time studies let you earn a degree without giving up work, which for many people means a real return on investment in the form of a promotion or higher pay. Profitability depends on the field, the reputation of the university and the labour market situation. It is worth comparing the total cost of studies with the expected increase in earnings after graduation.

The calculator estimates the total cost of part-time studies based on tuition, number of semesters, commuting and material costs. It does not include: scholarships reducing the cost, accommodation fees, retake exams, the diploma fee or tuition inflation in subsequent years. Treat the result as an indicative budget for planning your studies.

Results are indicative and based on average part-time study prices in Poland 2026. The final cost depends on the university, field of study and individual situation of the student.
